Identification
How to identify your MX-11
Read us the engine serial number from the PACCAR engine identification label. It is also stored in the engine ECU and can be read with PACCAR diagnostic software.
Because the MX-11 and MX-13 look similar at a glance, confirm the model on the label or from the truck build sheet before quoting. The VIN is the fastest way to verify it.
- Engine serial number and engine model from the label
- Truck VIN, year and model
- Horsepower and torque rating
- Transmission and any PTO setup
01MX-11 vs MX-13
The MX-11 shares design family and service approach with the MX-13 but is a smaller-displacement engine with its own block, crank and many internal parts. It is spec'd to save weight and cost in tank, bulk, regional and vocational trucks where the extra torque of the 13-liter is not needed.
An MX-13 is not a direct substitute in an MX-11 truck. Ratings, cooling package and calibration all assume the 10.8-liter engine.
02Weight-sensitive and vocational history
MX-11 trucks often run tanker, bulk, dump or mixer work. That means the donor engine may have more idle time, PTO hours or short-haul cycles than a linehaul engine of the same mileage. Ask for engine hours alongside miles when available.
03ECU programming and aftertreatment
A used MX-11 typically needs its ECU programmed to your truck. The DPF and SCR on your chassis must match what the engine calibration expects. If the aftertreatment was damaged with the engine, tell us so it can be quoted at the same time.

FAQ
PACCAR MX-11 questions
Is the MX-11 just a detuned MX-13?
No. It is a different displacement with its own block and internals. They are related designs but not interchangeable engines.
Why would a truck be spec'd with an MX-11?
Mainly weight savings and cost in tank, bulk, regional and vocational trucks. Matching the engine to your truck's original spec keeps payload and calibration as designed.
Where is the MX-11 serial number?
On the PACCAR engine identification label, and stored in the ECU.
Does the MX-11 use DEF?
Yes. The MX-11 uses SCR with DEF along with a DPF and cooled EGR.
Will a used MX-11 run in my truck without programming?
Usually not. Plan for ECU programming to your VIN and truck options at a dealer or equipped shop.
